ABOUT ME

IMG_20171229_150705_1 (2).jpg

A passion for writing started at school and led to journalism, copywriting, company newspapers, PR launches and campaigns, company reports and brochures, marketing blurbs, video scripts, web content and speeches.
Whatever the text you want, I can deliver it on time and to exacting demands, or find the specialist who can.
Part of getting the 'right write' is also about taking the client's brief correctly - I've decades of experience on that front.
And please check out 'The Webinator' service I offer: it will fire up your under-performing website.

SERVICES

Press releases - most businesses need to publicise achievements and milestones, but don't have the writing expertise or media savvy in house. It needn't cost the earth and I can handle add-ons like photography and media targets. I've worked for West End PR consultancies and run my own outfit too, with blue chip clients and names.

Speech writing - it's up there with the pet hates isn't it? And it's a distraction from the day job. Instead of the brain ache though, why not let me take the pain? I'll just need a head dump from you about things you want to say and come back with something that not only works, but sounds so much like something you would say that you can take all the credit for it...I'm not going tell, am I? I want to write another one for you.

Video scripts and production - it doesn't have to be a Cecil B. DeMille production. Indeed, video can have such a short shelf life nowadays that it isn't worth spending a fortune. In any case, you could do the filming on a smartphone, but what does need thought is content and context - I can work with you on that.

Web writing/blog content - check out The Webinator page to find how you can breathe new life into your 'shop window'. A blog is a great way to keep your site 'busy' and drive new traffic to it. And, yes, if you really do need a new website then I can work with you on the brief and finding the right people to do it...at the right budget too.

Photography - smartphones are great aren't they? And a lot of us have clever 'proper cameras' where all the hard stuff is automated, but there is still a lot left in the photographer's art. Talk to me about what you want: I'll either shoot the picture myself or call in and direct or brief the 'lensman' (or woman) you really need. And if you need other images, such as a logo, cartoon, graphics and so on, I can source those too.

Publications - I've written for and produced everything from a humble leaflet to a glossy company report, and edited newspapers and magazines. True, there's less call for the printed page nowadays, but sometimes a business needs something tangible to show customers and clients.

'The Network' - over the decades, I've worked with other professionals in various fields - good and not so good. The former are in my special contacts book. So, if I can't supply everything you want, then I know someone who can, and pretty much wherever you need it and at the price you want to pay.

Social Media - so there's no place for good writing in the age of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or this week's new wonder app? Wrong. If it's to be done well, then a newspaperman has a place. Twitter? With few words to play with, the old headline and intro writing skills come in handy. Facebook? Well, it's nice to see a succinct and correctly spelled and punctuated post - it speaks well for the business generating it. And isn't the whole point of Instagram to let the picture tell the story, backed by some well chosen words? Better than a string of drivel and typos plus emojis.

'THE WEBINATOR'

Does your website:

  • look tired?

  • seem out of date?

  • need fresh text or images?

  • crave fresh news or a blog?

  • seek more visitors?

  • or simply need to deliver on what it cost?!@X£££?

No problemo! Just contact The Webinator.

You won't be short of action.

Seriously though, many businesses spend a lot upfront on a fancy looking website without a) thinking exactly what it needs to do, b) paying attention to the text, or c) how they will keep attracting traffic to its pages.

But for most of of your contacts and customers it's about making that first impression - they say you never get a second chance there.

It's also your shop window, so don't leave it filled with tired and faded stock.

OK, a new website might be needed eventually, but there's usually a lot that can be done to breathe new life into your old one.

So, ask The Webinator and...

"I'll be beck!"

FAQS

Home: FAQ

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE WEBINATOR?

The first step is simply casting an eye over your existing website and filing a report on what could be done to bring it up to scratch, in both the short and long terms.
You can then either carry out the work yourself or engage me - and my team, if required - to implement the improvements and keep the site under review. Or we can divide the work if you prefer to keep even my modest costs down!

WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG WITH MY WEBSITE?

Old pictures like that 2006 plate car parked in the MD's space, or ancient news  pieces that fail to say to visitors "look, here's a modern go ahead company".
And did you publicise that big new contract you won last year, for instance, or report on your staff team raising all that money for the British Heart Foundation? If it's two noes in a row then your site needs pressure testing by The Webinator.

WHY WOULD I USE YOU FOR MY MEDIA/WRITING?

It's rare to find such a variety of writing skills under one roof, even in a full service PR consultancy, which is why I often supply those same skills as a consultancy sub-contractor!
What's more, with my modest office overheads in rural Kent I can keep the budget down for bigger businesses and be affordable for smaller ones, who might not normally consider outside writing help.

TESTIMONIALS

The trouble with anyone offering PR services - part of my portfolio - is that you can bank on reading a silky string of positives about what they can do for you, prompting a retort along the lines:"Well, they would say that wouldn't they?"

So, don't take my word for it, just read that of others:

"Steve Loader combines the highest levels of writing and organisational skills, with great professional integrity. Highly recommended"

Chris Laming - former Communications Director, P&O Ferries

"If you want a fresh look at what you are doing media-wise then Steve is your man. He is that rare beast, a journalist and a PR/Media expert, and able to bring a unique view to your entire media approach"
Gareth Johns - Founder, Business Computer Solutions (IT Support)

"I have worked with Steve Loader over several years: he is great with people and seems to know instinctively what I want to say when contributing to a media story. I could pen my own quote, but Steve can save a busy head from the time and hassle. And he can do so much more on the writing front - I recommend him highly." Carl Fitter - Head Teacher, Wouldham All Saints Church of England Primary School

"Steve Loader is our 'go to man' when we need any writing work done. Whether it be web copy, a press release or even a speech, he comes up with plenty of ideas and a stylish delivery. He is also a lot better value than a big name PR agency"

Chris Hall - Director, Trenport Investments Ltd (property developers)

"Steve didn't simply create the words for a website, but came up with an eye-catching theme for it too, and I know he can help with a lot more copywriting skills and media work - it's good to have his contact details close by"

Richard Pilton - MD, Kayo (web & digital solutions company)

"I've known, worked with and commissioned Steve for decades. He's a communications professional with a proven track record in journalism and media relations. His writing is stylish and creative and he is quick, accurate, reliable, and great with people. Get him on your team!"

Debbie Eales - former Group Magazines Editor, Kent Messenger Group
